Merol manufactures a heavy-duty rotary slip called RHS Rotary Hand Slip, which is widely used in deep drilling. The RHS Slip has a gripping length of 16½ inches (419mm) and features an API taper of 4 inches per foot on the diameter. It is used to hang off drill pipe during running in or pulling out of a hole. This slip design is excellent as it distributes the load evenly throughout the length of the slip, preventing any damage to the drill pipe. The best material composition reduces the wear and tear of the slip, increasing the slip's longevity. The RHS Slip body can be easily dressed to handle the pipe size required by changing the inserts.
